Posting on the main page

I have been playing around with Wordpress and learning a little bit each day. However, I'm stuck trying to figure out how to enter text on the home page.

On the Dashboard, when I click on Pages, I can see all of the tabs to edit but nowhere to edit the home page. Anyone know how to do this?

Well, there is no "home page" until you tell WordPress what to use for a home page. Do this.

  • Create a new page called Welcome. Know that whatever you use for this page name will show up on front page (the default page at the top of the site - just to be clear) so choose the title wisely.

  • Add your copy, images, etc...

  • Go to Settings >> Reading

  • Set the "Front page displays" to "A static page (select below)," then choose the page title you just created in the field labelled "Front page"

Now you should have a "home page" for your website.
