| Vista programs on Win 7 Question about Photoshop Elements 6 |

msg:4092291 | 7:14 pm on Mar 5, 2010 (gmt 0) | If a program will run on Vista, will it almost certainly run on Win 7? Specifically, I want to purchase an older copy of Photoshop Elements 6 (not the new ver 8) to put on a HP Win 7 laptop, but will not buy it if it cannot run on the new OS. Would appreciate any feedback if anyone has put PS Ele 6 on a Win 7 machine, or is pretty sure that all Vista programs can be installed OK... ....................

I don't see why it wouldn't work, however if it's a deal breaker for you then Adobe Support would be the people to ask. Windows 7 is essentially Vista Service Pack 3. That's simplifying things a bit, but in general there isn't that much difference between them. You should be able to run software that runs on Vista on 7 in most cases.

From other reading I've done, I may have to run it in compatibility mode because my HP laptop with Win 7 is 64 bit, but that would be fine. If it doesn't work then I'll install PSE 6 on an old desktop computer I have here and will get PSE 8, though at a requirement of 1 GB of RAM, it seems like much more of a graphics program than I really need. Will report back what I find when I do the installation later this week... ...................................

I've only played with the program for a short while, but from what I can see, it will work exactly the way I had hoped... :) ........................
