A welcome page for a website for 3+ Yrs Old Site

Msg#: 4478400 posted 12:34 pm on Jul 24, 2012 (gmt 0)

Hi all,
MOD pls apologies me if I have posted my queries in wrong forums.

Actually I need your advice.

I have a client whose website is about 3+ yrs old. It's keywords ranking is going good and traffic too. Now he wants to create a Entrance Page through which users will enter in his present website.
Actually he wants the entrance page at www.domain.com and the whole stuffs of present homepage shall be moved to inner page [will create]. I am sure this step would surely drop his present keywords ranking. so I asked him not to do that. I thought of a Pop-up but that's not gonna solve this requirement.

Is there any way to create the page which opens the entrance-page not present home page?

I know some of you may have done such projects. I shall be thankful if you guys share something and help me out from this situation.

Thanks in advance

As long as the inbound links don't change and the new entrance page contains the keywords he is ranking well in, I can't see why you would cause a drop in ranking.
