Keeping track of a complicated website and it's features.
Software to detail features and relationships?

 11:49 pm on Feb 25, 2008 (gmt 0)

We've built quite a complex website, with a huge number of inter related features. Keeping track of how everything should work together has been a nightmare - does anyone know of any software that can help with this?

Ideally we want some framework where we can input details, which is easily searchable and gives both a lateral and vertical overview.

It would be great to hear what other webmasters use to overcome this problem..

What about mind-mapping software? You can track some pretty complex ideas in some of those.

Thanks Bill - will look into mind mapping software.

Do you know if this is how other webmasters of big websites keep track of their website and what it does, what features it has etc?

I'm assuming the technical team behind a site like Monster must have erally good documentation on what they have and effects of any changes etc.

I've heard from people who swear by the mind mapping software, but it's not for everyone.

I usually put up a wiki for myself or use Microsoft OneNote.
