Well, that was fun.

:: mopping brow ::

Starting yesterday, my mailbox was suddenly flooded with notifications of new WebmasterWorld posts even though I hadn't changed any settings except of course the time. Couldn't be a system glitch, or everyone would have been posting about it. Went over the whole Control Panel area with a fine-toothed comb and found nothing...

... because it isn't in the Control Panel, it's in Quick Reply. The "e-mail notifications" box starts out approximately two millimeters away from the "preview" button (it later moves to an equally helpful location directly above Preview) ... and once you've clicked it by mistake, it remains selected for all future posts until you de-select it. At least I hope so.

I suppose I'll be getting sporadic notifications for weeks to come, but I spent the last ten minutes running around editing everything I could still edit. "No! I don't want any more e-mail! I can find it myself!"

Sorry to hear that.
I've done that, too, and having learnt my lesson, i'm much more careful.
