Hi,
We do care, but we have to sleep sometime.
Go to the post that has the check box " Do you want an email notification of replies?" and uncheck it.

thanks, that solved the problem..
so how come that email notification is/was checked by default on different occasions?
is it a new "feature" or what?

Umm. I'm getting these on tons of posts. And I'm not the only one, according to my twitter feed. Something's gone off here. I've never subscribed to email notifications in my entire life.
Also, when I go back to the posts, there's no check in the box to uncheck.

initially, i also didn't understand the instruction on how to fix it as it is not very precise.
as i see it, you have to go through your threads and click on "owner edit" under your nick where you have left a comment. then uncheck the box with email notifications. if it is unchecked already, you'll have to wade through the thread again and repeat the procedure for all your posts.
it may be advisable to address this major bug and even apologize on a prominent spot as it must be a pretty big annoyance for quite a few people who have no clue what's going on. just saying..
