Local webmaster meetups?
do they exist already?

 8:46 pm on Jun 9, 2010 (gmt 0)

Are there currently any local in-person meetups for webmaster world? If not, I would think it would be a great way to network and share knowledge.

I have been going to Meetup202, a meetup for affiliate marketers. They organize them in several major cities and it's a really good way to network. I live in Central Jersey (Edison) and there is even a meetup here.

If you know of any good local events for webmaster, please share.

Are you in New York City or just New York State? I live about 40 minutes away from the city.

I'm not even in the country, so we won't be meeting anytime soon. But the IM in NY has a good name, they seem to have some pretty big charity meetups and lots of big names attend.

We generally don't allow WebmasterWorld to be used to organize meetups as in the past, we have discovered unauthorized groups using WebmasterWorld members purely to make a sales pitch. I'm certainly not inferring that you are discussing this for those sorts of reasons, but because of that bad experience we have a policy to discourage these sorts of threads. Sorry.

Woo! I'm excited about PubCon. PubCon is the best place in the world to meet up with friends and peers. It doesn't have the local aspect that you're looking for, but such a large number of people will be there that you will be able to hook up with the exact kind of people you want to talk to.

Central NJ here too (Somerville). It would be nice run into some folks locally. Morristown area has a lot of folks with seo oriented websites I follow too. Let me know if any real synergy gets going!

Wife and I tried a local PC group, found out quickly we knew way more than the folks running it. Turned out to be an in person level one help desk. We ran away screaming after trying to help the 'intelligence challenged' do the most basic of tasks on a PC.

Hmm, Central NJ here too (Westfield).

I really need to get out to Pubcon myself. I'm too busy with my day job to even think about it...

I used to bring local search workers together in the San Francisco Bay Area for drinks and food. If you're interested in being a part of a dinner and drinks meetup in the SF Bay Area feel free to sticky me [webmasterworld.com] and I will put something together.
