Outbox messages are only saved for a short period. The system automatically removes any that are old.
The best option is to forward any messages you want to keep to your e-mail address as the WebmasterWorld StickyMail system was never orginally designed as a storage system.
Oh, and make sure the "Place a backup copy in outbox folder?" box is checked before sending, otherwise, it will not be saved at all.

Thanks, I had already figured that it was the check box that was the problem. (I thought that Sentmail would be saved automatically.)

I finally figured out I had to forward to me PM at WW... just chuckles and makes no sense there is a "sent" folder which never worked (and has not worked since I joined in 2005). Just figured Brett had other things to deal with.

Read too fast first time... That option is NOT on my screen. All I see is how many days, 21 max, and has never worked.

it is a checkbox immediately above the Send Message [webmasterworld.com] button.

My bad... been a member since 2005 and never saw that... then again, I shouldn't have to manually send a copy to the outbox (sent). Thanks for reminding me yet again that one can be dumb. That said, sent folder should take it all since there is a day limit already attached and PM users shouldn't have to take that extra step. It is counter intuitive.

I agree. If you choose to retain outgoing mail in sticky mail preferences for a number of days this should happen automatically and this option would suggest that it does. That's what caused the confusion with me.
Incidentally why would anyone NOT want to retain outgoing mail for at least a few days? Shoudn't this be the default?
