I remember Brett asking members in the past sometimes to scan through the unanswered messages list to reduce the number of orphans. The recent posts list is something I like to scan through when in lurker-mode, but it should be just as easy to go in activity-mode answering open messages.

As a quick fix for yourself, you can add the link to your custom code header in your preferences in the control panel. I know I've added a few "quick links" in there myself to get to places faster.

I think there is a glitch. I hadn't clicked "recent posts" but I could see "unanswered messages" in the footer, so I clicked it. I got a page of threads, but the count in each was >1. Then I clicked "Unanswered Messages" at the top of the right column. This time I got the real list, where every thread had just one post. Hope that makes sense.
