I hope this is an April Fools thing. I have much respect for this place but will be forced to think less of it if it turns into an AdSense site.

I completely forgot about April 1st as well. I don't object to banner ads, but these are truly ugly. :)

Really hope this is April fool stuff HELP, somebody HELP! My WebmasterWorld has been highjacked! If this is for real I cannot stand it If this is for real then WebmasterWorld should offer a “for a fee version” Without ad Anyway again if this is real then I hope this thread will grow and make the home page. Anyone to join the resistance to “click for peanuts mania”

| The supporters forum (for a fee version) is without Ads. I think it is high time Brett made some money from this phenomenon called webmasterworld. I agree it might be a little disconcerting for people who are not used to ads. And I don't think this is April fool's joke :)

| I have no problem with Adsense on this site, but I think Bret does ok with this phenomenon already between the subscriptions and the conferences. If you're a subscriber, is the entire site without ads, or just the supporter's forum?

So one at the top one on the right and an ad links at the bottom, I would say the ad links would get a better ctr at the top?

People who travel with javascript enabled deserve the litter they encounter. I blame the baby. :-)

| By all means, enjoy your dysfunctional web without ads. I'm not a fan of the right skyscraper since it squeezes the layout for the entire page requiring much more scrolling.

If it's an April Fool's joke, great. But if it isn't, more power to them. WW is the best thing since sliced bread, there's no reason why they shouldn't be getting compensated for running the show. On a sidenote, how many actual paid subscribers are there on WW, ballpark?
