Which dedicated server of these 2 can handle more users?
AMD Opteron 1218, 4096 MB DDR2-Ram / AMD Athlon 64 X2, 8 GB DDR2 RAM

One of my servers at peak times is getting slow - the load sometimes is about 10. So, I am going to replace this server with something better.
Which of the servers below can handle more users? Thank you.

1) AMD Opteron 1218 (Dual Core)
4096 MB DDR2-Ram
2 x 500 GB hard disks

Price: Eur 148/month

2)AMD Athlon 64 X2
6000+ Dual Core
2 x 750 GB SATA
Price: Eur 99/month

I'm not a hardware expert, but I would think the server with twice the RAM for less cash a month is the more capable. Both have dual processors which is good. The type/speed of those processors is, in my opinion, not as valuable as the increased RAM from the second option.

Unless there are some hidden catches (like rip off charges on excessive bandwidth usage) then 2nd looks better choice even if the price was the same, though ultimately it depends on where the bottleneck actually is - in this case however cheaper price and more hardware make it a fairly easy choice, again so long as there are no hidden catches.

Thank you for your replies.
The second looks better for me, but as you wrote, there may be hidden catches.
Can not decide yet.
