I was just on the verge of buying a new computer to use to create and work on my sites when I found out I might have the opportunity to create brief, simple, talking head video and audio clips for a new site that is coming out that would then drive traffic to me.
I do have a background in video production, but it's been a few years since I left that to do my own web sites, so I am only vaguely familiar with programs like Final Cut Pro, etc, but I do understand how they work. From a software standpoint, I don't need anything too complicated (it's just going to be clips of me talking) but I would like it to be as easy and painless (and quick) as possible to do.
As for hardware, I don't mind spending the money to get a good machine, but would prefer not to buy a Cadillac if a Chevy will do. My three year old Dell isn't going to cut it, but there are many options out there--including iMacs--that I'm not sure where to start.
Any suggestions on models to look at or ones to avoid?
