Love: Solving people's problems. The worst projects bring the greatest rewards.
Hate: That many clients undervalue our work, want flea market pricing, and could care less how much we do for them.

Love: solving problems, doing different types of work everyday (variety) and the fact I can work alone so much.
Hate: I also don't like how some people under value our work, but I also can't stand clients that are completely clueless about what we do, how we do it, or why we do it a certain way. Worse is the ones that expect a certain outcome despite the fact you told them it doesn't work that way, but they "heard it somewhere" and are sure you are wrong.

Love: the creative element versus the logical I.T. side
Hate: the fact that most sites are designed and developed by I.T. folks who have no idea about business objectives and the whole reason for deploying a site to begin with... well some of you...

Love: The challenge of creating very complex websites.
Hate: Not being listened to (I'm not just a pixel pusher!).

Love - Creating something unique and functional that hopefully helps the client to achieve the desired results.
Hate - trying to obtain content for the site from the client.
Hate - We want the site to be white followed by a week later, no we think it would look better in blue and we don't want to pay for the changes.

I'm with most of whats been said. Especially MikeBrown. Getting pictures from some customers is like pulling teeth!
Love: The complexity, the problems solving, designing a completely unique product for each customer.
Hate: Working 120 hours on a $350 site and competing with folks who do it for a 3rd the price.

Love: Learning about other industries in order to make them really great web-based software. I love automating a manual process.
Hate: Getting phone calls from clients on a Saturday from their sister's house to ask why their nephews computer is doing "something funny"... Yes I probibly could fix it, No this is not included in your web hosting package and no I don't want to.

Love: Helping my clients get results on the web and being seen as the facilitator of said success.
Hate: When I am thrown into a pool of other webmasters that don't offer anywhere near the same level of services. (granted, I could probably get better at explaining what I do in a short conversation without boring prospects to death)

Love: Seeing people smile when I get it right
Hate: Clients who really dont want you to do the work and will snort loudly would suggest something, implying its stupid thing to do. When in reality they have their own agenda

Love: As an SEO, I love web designers, for they keep my profession alive ;)
Hate: Last did web design for two clients in 1997 before deciding never to do it again.
