I would always favour a host in my own time zone and preferably in my own country so that I can use phone support without needing a new mortgage.

A general web search for "linix web host" will turn up a bunch, search "linix web host my geo" (your geographic/country location) and it is still significant. Add "cpanel" to the latter search and it's directed... then look at price, bandwidth, storage for the best fit. Secondary is if perl/php installed, etc. In all cases one might look to see if out of country might have a benefit in areas where govt intrusion might be a concern, or a blessing.

Preaching to the choir, I know, but for the newbies out there who might read this thread this finishes off the general query (and keeps with charter in that we recommend no specifics).
