Sorry - first post here - I hope it's in the right place.
I have site with a forum and a wiki set up as www.sitename/forum and www.sitename/wiki. I have the forum index as my landing page.
However, when I search for "website value" and get sites that tell me how many page views, visitors, etc. I have, it is only counting the stats for my forum. I know this because I have StatCounter on the wiki and forum and can see what is going on.
Is this because my Landing Page is a forum page? In addition, it seems as if my wiki pages are suffering as far as SEO goes.
Any suggestions or advice? Should I create a separate Landing Page with links to the forum and wiki?
I really don't see what the issue is. These "website value" sites are not an authority on anything. They scrape data from many sources but are typically inconsistent, outdated and just incorrect. This really has nothing to do with SEO.
You're correct, the number of visitors will be compiled from your landing page when someone searches for "your site name." This may be a lower number than what you think it should be, but so what?
I actually block almost all these type services. I have a fundamental objection to other business making profit on my data, but that's me. Everyone sees things a bit differently when it comes to their web site.
Just build the very best web site you can and don't let the numbers bother you :)
