Blocking Referral Traffic Origin dailypress msg:4648812 5:03 am on Feb 25, 2014 (gmt 0) Is there any way you can block the origin of referral traffic? In other words: I am trying to send someone traffic however, don't want the person to know from which site the majority of the traffic comes from. I would like them to see: www.example.com sending traffic while I use that as a backlink on a couple of my sites. Is that even possible? Would using a URL shortener/ or somehow "redirect URL" do the trick?

the Referer HTTP Request header is sent by the user agent, so in the case of your human visitors it is typically under browser control, not something you can control from the web page or the server. the Referer header is normally passed through all HTTP redirects (301, 302,...) so the origin url will be exposed. dailypress msg:4649207 7:27 am on Feb 26, 2014 (gmt 0)
