Hi Guys...some insight pls...I work on a site that has a very successful and well trafficed blog...and we have no duplicate content issues within the site...all taken care off. Now we have another site (not ours) that is even more trafficed than the site in question and this site would like to repost our blog posts regularly giving our site exposure and a link to it. How will this affect duplicate content issues and is it something to persue or avoid. my feeling is that there are many sites out there that are taking our copy and using it without credit....where these guys have asked and would be linking to the original web page?
It will be duplicate content unless they exclude the bots using robots.txt. It's a tough question if they aren't willing to do this. Exposure versus the possibility of rankings.
Have you searched for a unique phrase out of your own content to see who has scraped and published it? If they're small they probably won't get much traction with it but the site you mention above sounds like it might have some better authority and therefore giving them your content might mean they outrank you for your keywords.
thanks lorax...dont think they will be blocking with robots.txt....i am going to see if they will be willing to link back to my site within the content or else i think it is not worth the "exposure"..thanks for the reply
