| fireworks: semitransparent image on top of another image

Hello
I want to put a semitransparent figure (square) on top of another image just to change slightly the color of the downside picture. I know I have done this with fireworks before but I do not remember how to do it. Do you know how to do this?
Whenever I try to draw a square on top of another image in fireworks, I do not see where are the controls which, as far as I remember, should be displayed to let me change the transparency level applied for the upside image's color.
Any idea?

Solved.
I do not know why but the control in the properties tab had disappeared. I just had to close fireworks and open it again.
