Cuil for a month - A Cuiltastrophe.

 4:46 pm on Dec 22, 2009 (gmt 0)

I realize I haven't been giving the "world's biggest search engine" fair time in my browser. I've been typing Google or Bing to search for everything, so I've been thinking, why not see what it would be like to try Cuil for a month?

The times I've used Cuil, it seemed pretty bad. But really how bad is it?

For the entire month of January, I will do all my searching at Cuil.
How will this change my search habits, and my experience of the web?
Will I ever find what I need to find? Will I resist suicidal thoughts?

Anyone want to join me for a month-long Cuiltastrophe?

Wow, that is some challenge. I know I could not do it.

I wonder who has more traffic, cuil or redzee.

First I had to look it up on Google 'cuz I've never heard of it.

Tried 4 searches related to our area and I have to say....it's REALLY bad.

Argh! I laughed.

Cuil just shows 10 random results, no matter what searchquery you enter. It's completely random.

The ironic side of Cuil is that the button has "search" written on it, when it should be "I'm feeling lucky".

I tried searches related to a site that I used to run when it was set up and for a site that I have since created.

The former shows fine, the latter gives no result for a search query that puts it number 2 in Google.
