Interesting article on CNN:
The escalating Google vs. Microsoft fight looks like a full-blown tech war, complete with behind-the-scenes machinations to sic government regulators on each other. It is, however, not a death match -- it's more of a clash of the titans to see who will become King of Technology
Google FTW? I think things will be hard for MS considering Google's hidden cost model -- who knows what you really "pay" for Gmail as it's paid for by advertisers...who then roll their advertising budget into their per unit cost analysis. I mean, it's nice that I "get it for free" on the face, but I know I'm paying for it -- heck, I figure the prices of goods on my websites with an eye towards my AdWords budget. Can't imagine other's ignore this cost when pricing. Still don't know if that means I am paying $299 for Google Apps, through these nifty hidden costs, or $199. Hard to say which is really a better bang for my buck (I'm trained in economics...so cost-benefit and marginal cost analyses are hard-wired into me).
At leat, as a consumer, I can play at "wait-and-see"...
