Finding a webhost from an URL or IP address

Hi

Is there a way to find what web hosting company a website is using by using just the domain name or IP address? I've got a .org.uk domain I want to investigate a bit to find out the webhost they're using. Whois seems to give nameservers and registrar only.

Thanks

a search by ip address of the regional internet registry, such as arin.net, should reveal the isp.

Thanks for that phranque, but i can't seem to get any results from the IP address other than details about a company called ripe.net - might that be because I'm using a .org.uk domain and arin.net is an American Registry?

RIPE is Europe's version of North America's ARIN, Asia's APNIC, South America's LATNIC, and Africa's AFRINIC.

Follow the link that ARIN gave you for RIPE, plug in the IP, and read what it says.

Eliz.
