I'm creating a web site that could have 1000 to 2000 folders directly under the domain name. ie: mydomain.com/apples/ mydomain.com/oranges/ mydomain.com/banannas/
I'm doing it that way so people can write in a URL address more easily. From an administrative aspect, it would be a lot easier for me if the structure had more subdirectories in it. But to make it easier and shorter for people to write the url into the address line, I would rather just have the one-directory structure above. My two questions are:
1. what is the maximum number of folders I can have directly under the domain name?
2. Is there some way to maintain the short address lines above, and yet use a deeper subdirectory structure on the server?
Of course, any solution would also have to not harm search results.
