Does the use of "beta" have any impact on rankings

I'm just wondering whether identifying a service as being a beta version will impact rankings for that particular page. Any thoughts?

it has affect on the keyword Beta in the SERPS for sure..

but no loads of traffic if your not ranking on spot 1-40

But does it have a negative impact on the rankings for the page it appears on - e.g. say you are promoting a new service about widgets and you label the service as (Beta)...do you think you are penalised in the rankings for widget services because it is essentially not the finished article?
