I've heard the question for real from customers before...Some people have the impression that that info is just "transferred" magically when the user visits a website (wouldn't that be nice tho')
Rocky, The info you're after doesn't just magically arrive with a visitor to your website. It's not carried by any magical data string in the browser.
The reference above this is referring to a form (like a contact form)placed on your website that would includes a "name" and "email" for the user to fill out and submit...
it's the only way to get that info...and unless the user WANTS to give it to you, you're out of luck.
How would you like it if every website you visited could get YOUR name, email, address, phone number, and creditcard information?
Hope that helps!

|I need to get my visitors name and email address via a form from my website and save to a database. |
I think you need to explain in more detail about what you're trying to accomplish.
Are you asking how to make an HTML form? How to take form input and insert it into a database? How to force people fill out the form? How to verify the information they submit is accurate? Or what?

I think what he wants is a mailing list script?

If you dont know how to write html code that will create a form where users can submit info to you or to a database then do a google search for "newsletter form script" or google up script sites and you will find something there.

It sounds like all you need is a mailing list script. I like Dadamail. (Google it.) The email addresses are stored in a text file, not a database, but you can still send out your newsletters to all your readers, which is what it seems you want to do.
