Can anyone suggest a good test to compare CDN's (limelight vs akamai vs edgecast or) I would think it would test latency etc. thanks!

infante, Tests like this have so many parameters to take in to consideration. The results would vary widely based upon location, bandwidth, time of day, type of connection, speed of the pc, on and on. [edited by: travelin_cat at 4:35 pm (utc) on May 1, 2009]

Keynote is the de facto standard for testing content access times from many geographies.

I'm surprised that one of the major website monitoring folks (gomez, watchmouse etc) have not jumped on this. companies are spending big bucks on bandwidth and an independent test that was well constructed could be very useful. Microsoft evidently did a paper on testing methods but interestingly looks like the info got to be a bit too controversial.
