Please help me out, this is the first time I'm optimizing a video site. What are the necessities to optimize a video site? How to optimize the videos? Thanks in advance.

That would depend somewhat on what you're offering. For instance, if you have a large bandwidth allotment and a capable streaming server, then you might be looking to provide higher quality video. If you're on a shared host then it might possibly be an issue of sacrificing quality for compression and speed.

Thanks for the reply. But my query was how to optimize or rank a site having videos? What are the different ways to optimize a site having lots of videos? Hope you understand what does I mean actually. Please help me out. Its urgent, Thanks in advance.

Hello,

I also have websites with video tutorials for many years. The PR is always 1 because Google think I spam the spiders by duplicating the contents.

Welcome to WebmasterWorld AnyDemo.

I would say that having videos on your site is not the cause of your Google woes.

The original question was about optimising video, and was answered well by Bill.

The questioner then asked "how to optimize or rank a site having videos?".

The answer is "the same way you optimise any site for ranking".

Imagine for one moment that the question was "how to optimize or rank a site having images" and you will get the idea - in the same way that you would use descriptive ALT tags for images you can use descriptive text in the embedding markup for the video, but other aspects of the site markup (such as titles, descriptions and text) will still need to be good enough to interest search engines.

Unless, like YouTube, you have a gazillion incoming links...
