The Liverpool Echo broke this story - tracking the IPs of offensive wikipedia edits to the UK governments secure internet.

Whitehall issued a statement on the story

And the BBC followed up with more investigation of wikipedia editing from government IP addresses.

I think that this may be just the tip of the iceberg of politically motivated editing of wikipedia and that similar stories may well be uncovered in other countries.

Besides the moral aspect, people really have to recognise that anything they do on the Internet is traceable.
