Twitter Button Shrinking

 8:53 pm on May 25, 2012 (gmt 0)

There's something odd about the Twitter Button installed in my site's homepage.

Last week it was showing more than 500 Tweets, and now its back to 298.

Any ideas of what might have caused it?

There are no precise answers as too many parameters are considered.
For example, the count is +1 for any tweet or retweet,
futher if a user tweets twice from the same URL it will count +2.
So you need to track more of the user behavior in order to figure out if anything is wrong.

Even more, due to the tweets volume Twitter might cache the button result and delaying the new sum, see where we go....

Thank you for the reply Henry.

The thing is that the button was marking over 500 tweets for a long time, and last week it suddenly dropped to less than 300.

Twitter still has many bugs. Post counts do vary wildly.

I 'lost' several thousand posts for months, then suddenly one day they were back again.
