Using PPC promotions without affecting positioning.

I am looking to run a PPC promotion, however, for security reasons I need to segment the campaign in 4.
I would add my top performing keywords in a new campaign and pause the relevant keywords in their original campaigns for the specified time period only.
Would I be able to maintain positioning on the other keywords, would this at all affect my position and bid pricing?
