Local, Regional, or Nationwide & SE placement
nationwide or local niche site for SE placement

I have several niche topics in mind for future websites. I'm just wondering what would be better and easier for placement; a site for Nationwide use or stick to a Regional site (maybe just within one state)or even smaller local site(just for one city or town)? I have one site now that is very niche, related to one industry for one city. I only get 30 to 50 visits per day after 9 months, but I've recently started adding more content. I have about 50+ pages of content and plan on adding more than 100 pages. I don't pay for any advertising and nor do I want to. I'm wondering if I'm too niche? I want to take this into consideration for my next site as I would like to earn money with adsense and I need more than 50 visitors per day. I'd like to have 500+ organic visits per day. I'm just wondering if I can compete on a nationwide level. My site is a Healthcare related website. I'm a Registered Nurse and so this is the easiest topic for me to create websites around.

I'm just worried about creating a 100 page site for Nationwide use and end up with a site that never gets seen. Are the search engines tougher on big nationwide sites than they are on local sites? Any advice would be apprecitated.

To start with shortlist your related keywords, look-up the search-ability for those keywords, analyze the competition for each keyword.

Do this activity for local and national-level keywords and you will get to know the actual picture.
