Search Engine Spider and User Agent Identification Forum

domain tools, surveybot, IP update

 7:26 am on Nov 4, 2011 (gmt 0)

Our friends (not) at domaintools.com last hit my site from:

USER AGENT: "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en; rv: Gecko/2009073022 Firefox/3.5.2 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) SurveyBot/2.3 (#*$!)"

USER AGENT: "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv: Gecko/20091020 Ubuntu/9.10 (karmic) Firefox/3.5.3 GTB7.1"
"Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/534.51 (KHTML, like Gecko; Google Web Preview) Chrome/12.0.742 Safari/534.51"
...and a few others, no clue

The Endurance International Group, Inc. BIZLAND-FC01 (NET-66-249-0-0-1) -
Name Intelligence, Inc. NAMEI-NET-1 (NET-66-249-16-0-1) -

They took a screen shot from:

USER AGENT: "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.2; .NET CLR 1.1.4322)"
Name Intelligence, Inc. NAMEI-SEA5 (NET-64-246-165-128-1) -
Compass Communications, Inc. CCOM-2003 (NET-64-246-160-0-1) -

Also screen shots from:

IP:, .236, .237, shared with AboutUs.org, screen shots on their site
USER AGENT: "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.2; GTB5; .NET CLR 1.1.4322)"

That's a lot of IP addresses, sheesh!

Update: I found even more of their junk, tons of stuff, maybe I'll do a full post if I can find the time, it's very prolific

First up - very pleased to see you back and posting normally again Bill! Hope your health is much improved.

I've had and blocked for years.

I'm not very good at keeping records about exactly when/why, but know that Name Intelligence was on my hit list a very long time ago.

I just checked for screenshots in Domain tools for a couple of our websites, and was very gratified to see "No screenshot available"!

I block them too, but I soft block them.

Hard blocking just sends them away, soft blocking and feeding them data to follow shows where they went with your data ;)

That's how I track them down like the scraping dogs they are!

... and thanks, good to be back ;)
