I have been using the services of a company - but their prices have gone up steeply and it is not really affordable at present for us.
But i love what they do and would like to continue working with them
What i'm thinking of doing is entering a barter agreement with them where we give them a link at the botom of our homepage (or sitewide)

We have a PR7 site with very high trust rank and MOZ rank and no outgoing links.
Before i offer this to them i was wondering if it could be negative to us in any way? Damage our PR or SERP.

Any advice would be greatly received.

The link itsels would be something like: Hosting services provided by Tophost.com

i think you probably mean that well known hosting service provider: example.com

... back in the day WebmasterWorld used to have a sitewide link out in the footer to westhost, who were the then hosting provider, they've moved a couple of times since and i notice a link is no longer there to the current providers (i don't think this is the reason though).
