AdWords - What "Local Monthly Searches" for a micro-niche blog?

I am trying to find a niche and keywords for an adult micro-niche blog (affiliate programs), and I am wondering what would be the best Local Monthly Searches (for USA only, for this example) range for these keywords. I know that numbers dont necessarily reflect the exact searches, but this is the best source for this type of data anyway (I am not going to use AdWords, I only use it for research for now)

Some people say to stay between 80 (that might vary, and probably is not that important, as long as I keep it fairly low like this) and 30,000, other to keep it around 5,000. What do you think is the best range for what I am trying to do? I am thinking about a root keyword / keywords, and long tail phrases also (4 words max, I think).

Thank you.

I cant edit the previous post, but I am talking about the [Exact] match. There are three types, and the numbers differ.
