| Keeping old site content online used as a sub-domain or sub-folder

We have an old dot-org website which is no longer online but we want to keep its content on the-web by using it in conjunction with our (same category) dot-com site.
Trying to decide about the best way to keep the old site content and all its files online, with one of two potential methods:
(A) By using the old site folder as a sub-domain, i.e. example.org.example.com
(B) or as an htm sub-folder, i.e. example.com/example.org
Opinions about which method would be best as far as maintaining the traffic, SE ranking, SEO work and how well the search engines would like either approach would be greatly appreciated.

I am surprised about the lack of response. Maybe it's posted in the wrong forum?
Does anyone here have some opinions on this?

I guess no one here knows anything about the subject, which is surprising since the issue is fairly simple and certainly not rocket science :(
