moved active forums to new domain, traffic way down

I moved forums that got about 10K pageviews a day to a new domain.

I 302 redirected all pages/posts to the new domain.
The new domain is now getting about 2K pageviews a day.

Is this normal or can I do something to improve the transition to the new domain?

You can change your redirects to 301s as a good start, IMO.

A 302 redirect is advised against because it's 'undefined', and does not pass link weight like a 301 'permanent' AFAIK. There have also been known issues with SEs handling of 302 redirects which they state (and seem to) have been corrected, but 302s are still definitely advised against.
