Changing home page url? zantrio msg:4019839 6:40 pm on Nov 5, 2009 (gmt 0) I'm working with a company that seems to be a reputable SEO service provider.
The company is <snip>.
So far the process with them has been legit. I sent in payment and things are moving along.
The reason for my post though is that they want me to change my home page url from index.aspx to keyword.aspx.
So that when somebody goes to example.com they are forwarded to example.com/keyword.aspx
Now I will be the first to admit that I am not a web design pro, or SEO pro for that matter. But this doesn't sound like a very good idea to me. Of course I could be very wrong.
Can somebody shed some light on this for me?

I am into the online industry since a long time now and believe me. It won't affect the website in any way. Use a 301 redirect for the same. But it is generally not a good practice to have a page as it will considered as duplicate page by google. Check out the following links it might help you get a clear picture. [ ...] en.wikipedia.org [ ...] google.com
