Pinging SEs
Pinging search engines for common pages not for blogs

 3:45 pm on Sep 18, 2009 (gmt 0)

Did anybody of you ever tried to ping search engines manually? I mean from your code and not from wordpress, and NOT for blog entries but for common pages?
One of the team members of the company I work with insist that we should try to copy-paste that part from the wordpress' source and use it for pinging search engines with our travel guides and travel tips pages.
Sice I have no experiences in this topic any ideas and suggestions are welcomed!
The best would be to find a person who already tried something similar.

there is a ping service for the blog search vertical but that probably won't help for what you are trying to do.
more information here:

Thank you for your answer. What one member of our tech team suggested was to check wordpress' source and copy the pinging part from there then use it for pinging SEs with our other pages - what do you think, can this work of can it has any benefit for us?
Thank you again, I'll try the Google pinging part just I would like to hear some second opinions also.
