I am just beginning to track my site's search engine rankings on various keywords with automated software. The software defaults at checking the top 100 results. However, this is time consuming and I am not sure of the practical benefit of having my site rank at #42 or #78 or #99, etc, as I assume that most of the clicks go to sites in the top 10, fewer to 11-20, fewer still 21-30, until the traffic is so small as to be irrelevant.
Does anyone have any data on this or can anyone make an experience-based suggestion on how many results to check?

shortbus1662 your tactic is to react. If you never stop trying to get new links you will keep your ranking you won't need to check rankings. People seem to think SEO is something you do in bursts. Link building should be constant.
