RSS news feed as a marketing tool
Does having an RSS news feed affect SERP?

We have recently began subscribing to a service that writes news articles to be hosted on our website, relevant to our industry.

The company have given us the option of them building us an RSS feed for these news articles.

I was just wondering people's thoughts on RSS as a marketing tool?

I've read a lot of (unconvincing) articles saying that it's a good communication device.

My main focus at the moment is to improve our SERPs - would having an RSS feed have any baring on this at all?

Consider the needs of your Internet visitor first. Will he/she benefit from the feed? If so, then feed away.

As an SEO advantage, because most of these feeds are broadcasted in several places simultaneously, they don't really count as your own unique content and thus aid little in increasing the importance of the web page.

Thanks for the info, it has helped :)

Would submitting the feed to an aggregation feed be worthwhile doing?

I have recently analysed a site with an expert collegue. He considered RSS feeds to be excellent for SEO optimisation although he did not know how it could be done. Does anyone here known how to optimise RSS?
