I am mostly a reader, and sometimes post.
I have been running a small e-commerce business for the past two years - I run the gamut on responsibilites..from web design, maintenance, SEM, email, customer service, order fufill etc...
I have been looking to get into SEM as a career. I will have a number of opportunities opening up that have various responsibilities. One in which I run all facets of multiple campaigns of a small botique firm(PPC, SEO, etc.) , some interactive agencies where I will be exposed to big brands, and some which just focus on SEO or PPC exclusively. Everything I know now is self taught (I know this is a relatively new industry). My questions are: what matters most when you are starting your career? (I am a recent college grad 3 years out) - should have I exposure to as much as possible? Is learning from industry experts the best route? Is agency experience the best route? Can you survive in this industry being self taught?
