Hello Dear Webmasters,
I have question which I had been asked before but got nothing what I was looking for. Today I'm here to ask you does is there any affect on search engine ranking of a website if we change page title. As I had experience in MSN that it affects very badly. Actually its all about how your site is trusted for a search engine. I have superb ranking in Google, but for some keywords I stuck with a same ranking since last two months, no flactuation could be made on them. Now I have decided to change index page title. Currently I have a page title, which is seo friendly but optimized with an old seo technique. Could someone suggest me is there any hard affect on ranking what if we change page title in metas.

In a quick short answer, YES.
There are many factors which are taken into account when Google applies rankings to your site. One of which is titles.
If you have a page which ranks for a certain keyword in Google and you change the title you are risking loosing that ranking.
Before making any on-site changes to your site to gain new rankings try building your off-site optimization. Try obtaining new contextual or text links from other sites to your site using the keywords you wish to rank for. You do not want to change your titles and loose everything. Your best bet would be to try to optimize your off-site factors before making any dramatic changes on site.
Of course this all depends on the current status of your website and what titles you are using now.
