That's quite a switch from what it was when we started it. It is a bit shocking to think about, but when Danny Sullivan asked me to be on the founding board with him, I agreed because I envisioned it to be about small independent operators and firms. I never even considerded that an HP or a DoubleCLick would have anything what so ever to do with search marketing organizations.

I agree Brett, a lot has changed in just a few short years. I think many of these changes are geared towards the overall growth of the marketplace and the demand for an organization like SEMPO.
With big names on (the) board, more attention will likely be gained for SEMPO. In a world where many people often claim to be SEO's and SEM's overnight I think having an industry leader in terms of practices and education should really help to legitimize things even further.
In the end though it's all about money... even for non profits like SEMPO.
