I've been hearing all sorts of numbers as far as what is a good keyword density anywhere from 5 to 20%.

We've just de-optimized our site and recieved good rankings for most terms but our keyword density for our main terms is low (and our rankings could be better). We have more quality content, links and better URLs then our competition, but our keyword density is much lower about 8% to our 2%.

What have you all found is a good Keyword Density w/o getting too spammy?

On my site, density varies widely. Basically, I put the keywords and phrases in the page text as often as possible while still making the text read naturally.
