i've seen RSS in many sites. Googled also, but dont understand. Can somebody explain in simple words what is it. Is it related to some updation in any news site?

RSS is a way to publish feeds so that readers can subscribe to your content.
the feeds might com from a blog, a specific category of a blog, the comments from a blog post, youtube, the front page of WebmasterWorld, a forum, a thread, etc.

You have one application (rss reader) and add rss URLs from different sites. You will receive all news or articles directly on your desktop; you don't need to surf every site every day to see what is new.
