Getting an RSS feed and creating a text file
Can it be done?

Please don't flame me for asking this. I really want to be able to get a feed of live football (UK soccer) scores and process them using something VisualBasic and post the results onto a new website. It's just for myself and some friends at the moment.

What I really want to do is, after making a football bet, analyse the results as they come in live and SMS someone if the latest score is a part of someone's bet.

Some betting sites do provide this I'm sure, but it's just something that I'd like to crack myself. A pet project if you like.

Any ideas, examples, sources etc. gratefully accepted.

I don't about some of what you are asking, but RSS to Text and HTML utilities are pretty plentiful. Try hitting any of the big script archives and digging - they are out there in large numbers.
