Google and video sitemap questions

Hope to find some help :)
I am displaying videos on my site from YouTube, but I am not using a classic YouTube embed code - I use JW player in combination with YouTube API (looks better).

this is a code example for delivering videos on my site (uses SWFObject v2.2):

<script type="text/javascript">
var flashvars = { file:'http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OojD3AhNs6o',image:'/im/thumb.jpg',autostart:"true"};
var params = { allowfullscreen:'true', allowscriptaccess:'always',wmode:"opaque" };
var attributes = { id:'player1', name:'player1' };
swfobject.embedSWF('/js/player.swf','videoBox',596,380,'8','false',flashvars, params, attributes);
var player;
</script>

I have used this particular method for almost 2 years now and almost all of my videos got indexed by Google Videos (without even submitting video sitemap), but since I implemented a site-wide redesign I lost all videos from index.
Thus I decided to create a video sitemap and submit it via Google Webmaster Tools.

This is an example of video sitemap I created (this is an example with just 1 video):

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<urlset xmlns="http://www.sitemaps.org/schemas/sitemap/0.9"
xmlns:video="http://www.google.com/schemas/sitemap-video/1.1">
<url>
<loc>http://www.example.com/video/really-cool-rock-song.html</loc>
<video:video>
<video:thumbnail_loc>http://www.example.com/im/thumb.jpg</video:thumbnail_loc>
<video:title>example.com - video | really cool rock song</video:title>
<video:description>this is a video description, a few words about the content</video:description>
<video:player_loc allow_embed="yes">http://www.example.com/js/player52.swf?file=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yxI0BHdiOno&autostart=true</video:player_loc>
<video:category>music</video:category>
</video:video>
</url>
<url>
</urlset>

Google Webmaster Tools reported no errors and also gave this information:
Submitted URLs: 719
515 URLs in web index

Indeed there are 515 results indexed, but only as regular pages - not as videos (no small preview image etc).
Also there are no videos listed in Google's video page.
Running site:example.com in Google video return nothing.

I submitted it 3 weeks ago. During that time I included more videos and resubmitted, but the result is always the same..

Could the reason be because videos are from YouTube and not hosted on my site?

Any assistance and guidelines for further improving the video sitemap xml is greatly appreciated.

no answer .. let me trim that down: is it able to rank in Google Videos if videos on your site are from YouTube?

i haven't tried this. i assume google would give credit to youtube and not your site since you are simply embedding the video which is hosted on youtube.

I have seen a couple of sites rank very well for videos (shows video image in regular search) with having YouTube videos embedded.
This obviously drives a huge amount of traffic as users are far more likely to click on that content.
(I could give examples, but believe posting links is not allowed here)

What amazes me is the total lack of research on this issues. I have searched all over to discover what makes Google include some of the videos in their directory, but no luck.
