How to get Google to link category taxonomies

If you google for something like "ehow iphone ringtones", you'll see that the first result has category links "Computer Software > Audio Software". I'm curious if anyone has any insight into how Google creates this taxonomy. Is it the sitemap? link tags? Or just an analysis of internal site links?

TIA!
