I dont know if i really need to have both tags on my page.

<meta name="robots" content="index,follow">

I think they do the same thing, i cant find anything clear on the web about what allow search does exactly.

search engines assume they can follow everything they want to follow so you dont have to tell them to follow & index.

You don't need them if you want your pages to be indexed - however, if you don't want a specific page to be indexed, then you'll need those tags and tell them that you don't want any bots indexing your page
