When you change a web page and update your xml sitemap do your need to resubmit it to google via the webmaster tools?

Also when should you resubmit your xml sitemap to google?

AFAIK, if you change a web page contents only, then you don't need to re-submit your XML sitemap to Google -- because the sitemap doesn't really change.

But if you add a page (or more) or remove one (or more) then you definitely need to re-submit.

The best way to handle this is to automatically generate a sitemap every day (or night). If your server runs some flavor of UNIX then simply add a single line cron job.
