---- What Do All These Various Icons Mean?

You can go to www.markjoyner.name to see what I'm talking about.

Why all these different icons: I know that a lot of the major sites offer RSS feeds, but why don't they all use the same logo? For example, there's:

XML
RSS 1.0
RSS2.0
Atom Feed
Google Reader
del.icio.us
My Yahoo!
Bloglines
Newsgator
My MSN
My AOL
Furl It

If a site has these icons, does that mean that if I click on a particular one, I get a feed url for that particular reader? I still don't understand why a site doesn't just stick with XML and RSS, and instead uses 11 or 12 icons.

Couldn't I just click on the RSS 2.0 icon, and use that feed url in any reader?

What about inter-compatibility--if I had Google Reader, but instead I clicked on the icon that said My Yahoo!, would I be able to use that feed url in Google Reader?

Also, what do those + signs mean?

Thanks for your time in responding to this post.
